I'm almost to Quito. This flight has felt like an eternity.

This is reality! I am actually doing this! I am on my way to Guayaquil for two months!

I’ve slept most of this flight. I woke up to eat, and that’s about it. It’s just sinking in—all of this. I’ve just been going and going that all of a sudden, here it is, happening.
I’m setting myself free on this trip. No limits. Of course, I’ll be safe. But I’m wanting the most of this experience. Here it goes…

Quito to Guayaquil:
We had to get off the plane in Quito. I asked if I could smoke, but they said no. I went to find a place to smoke anyway. I followed the smoking lounge signs downstairs, and I asked a man working there, “Puedo Fumar?” He said no. But then he said, “Puedes en el bano” (you can in the bathroom). Through hand motions, I bummed a lighter and I chiefed down half of a cigarette in a stall, afraid that I would get caught. I didn’t. I gave the man back his lighter and said, “Estas mi amigo. Que bueno. Muchas gracias!”
Haha. I have met so many interesting people here. Pinetop Perkins, the guy opening up for 50 Cent this tour, Dr Quick—an entomologist and organic fertilizer inventor through fish oil.
And now I am about to take off for Guayaquil. I am surprisingly apathetic toward my situation. Glad, of course, but really, I’m just hungry. I wish I had a way to tell about all of my experiences. Tomorrow I must find an internet cafĂ© and a phone card.
I want to live here someday. I want to start rock climbing. I want to drink the water, just to see if I’ll actually get sick.
There really is not much else to say at this point. The real journey begins tomorrow, when I wake up and realize that I am very far from home, familiarity, and my comfort zone. But, I AM FREE!
